After almost 3 years since the release of this game, we have realised that we approached the Backrooms concept and the game design in a wrong way. For a few months now, we have been planning out a new Backrooms game.
We will make a BRAND NEW Backrooms game that will be faithful to the actual Backrooms lore! Our source for the lore will come from the official Backrooms wiki.
So FOLLOW US on Itch.IO for when our new page for the new game is ready. You can also check back on this page from time to time, we will announce the game here, too, when it's ready. :)
The Backrooms: Story Mode
The Backrooms: Story Mode is a game based on the Backrooms creepy-pasta developed by Runboost Games.
ONLY DEMO VERSION IS AVAILABLE!
Demo version contains: Level 0 with one being
Take it slow and relax...
The game adjusts to how you play it, if you panic and sprint around too much, you'll face the consequences. Rather, take it slow and steady, that's the key to escape.
Close your eyes...
Make sure to shut your eyes and calm down for a bit every once in a while. However, don't keep them shut for long, otherwise you'll freak out even more...
Controls
- WSAD - Movement
- SHIFT - Sprint
- SPACE - Sneak
- Q / E - Lean (peek)
- LMB / RMB - Close eyes
Levels
- 0 = Classic with yellow plasters
- 1 = Big abandoned complex or house
- 2 = Basement-like environment
- 3 = Industrial basement environment
Story
The Backrooms: Story Mode revolves around a 3-member family.
You play as Gary Johnston, the father of a child named Ashton and is married to a loving wife Elisabeth.
Ashton went missing 2 years ago and without his body located, he has been classified dead 6 months ago.
Gary has discovered a mysterious hidden door in his basement 5 months ago, he showed it to his wife and she refused going beyond this door with him, Gary promised Elisabeth he'll return soon, he entered into the darkness and made sure to lock the door behind him.
5 months passed by and by now he has gone through this door twice, but he never told his wife what he's found in there.
All he ever says to her is "Never open the door and always keep it locked under ANY circumstances and don't tell anyone about it.".
Elisabeth is very reluctant about him going in there ever again, but he resists and disregards her words.
What is behind this mysterious door?
What keeps drawing him back?

Install instructions
Download the ZIP package file for your designated system (32-bit or 64-bit) and extract the folder. Open the extracted folder and run "The Backrooms Story Mode DEMO.exe".
Good luck, you'll need it.

is it DEMO, right???
no me puedo mover...en la portada parece un buen juego pero no lo puedo jugar lastimosamente, no se que sea este bug, el juego inicia bien en el nivel 0, pero ya despues del texto, cuando suena el PUM y te manda directo al nivel 0, no me puedo mover, solo funciona el click, E y Q, y esc, he probado con wasd y todas las letras del teclado

Soooo uhh, yeah the footage didn't work
But from what I played it interesting and looking forward to the other levels in the future
It's a shame that this was discontinued, the textures and the atmosphere are among the best verions of the Backrooms games imo
Can you add a practice mode where there are no monsters?

No, this is not from any Open Source Kit. This game was made and programmed entirely from scratch in the Unity engine.
This game was also published way before the other project was made open source.

I really love the design and effects in this version of the backrooms. The constant noises and increasing ringing really starts to get at you, and the massive area leaves you wandering lost. Plus if you come across it at a weird time it's really startling.
